What's new in Tailwarden: October 2022
See what's new in Tailwarden and Komiser this month and what we're gradually rolling out.
Hey everyone, welcome to the October edition of “What’s new in Tailwarden” where we take you downstream to cover highlights of our change-log, community and anything Tailwarden related. Read on to learn about everything that launched this month.
We're thrilled to announce that Komiser has been downloaded and deployed over two million times. Komiser is an open-source cloud agnostic environment inspector that helps developers uncover hidden costs, performance and security issues.
The project has rapidly grown in popularity as it enables any organization to connect their cloud accounts and build their own multi-cloud asset inventory.
In addition to our SaaS product, our open source product has a commitment to good design. We’ve spent the last few weeks talking with many users to learn about their product usage and their pain points. We’ve obsessively wanted to create a tool that looks good and is easy-to use.
In the upcoming days, we’re shipping Komiser v3 with a modern design and a consolidated cloud agnostic inventory page that pools all of your resources across accounts and providers. Allowing you to tag and create in-depth cross-sectioned cost breakdowns with filters and views.
Community news & updates:
In an effort to continue supporting our open-source community, Purplin our mascot has new poses and traits thanks to the talented illustrator Alfrey Davilla.
We hosted our second Tailwarden Community Call, while this has become an end-of-month ritual for us, it's always great to share with our community our achievements and challenges over the past weeks.
In case you missed, here's a short recap:
To take part and potentially become the next Community Hero of the month, consider contributing to our project, either by providing feedback, be it through GitHub, through the #feedback channel on our Discord server or by testing existing and new features. Check out our latest blog posts:
- Enabling and maintaining a cost conscious culture. At every level: We all know how easy it is to spend other people's money when we get the chance. By changing the culture we can shape better habits.
- Developer experience is the future of cloud: Cloud migrations were the past but companies that manage to nail Developer experience have a solid chance of being relevant in the future.
- Cloud Resource Tagging, optional?: Automate and enforce tagging of your cloud resources with Terraform. Even though AWS makes tags optional. You shouldn’t.
- Prerequisite: The Budget Alarm: Imagine getting into a Formula 1 car but the pit crew forgot to fit the brakes. Brakes make cars safe, budget alarms in the cloud are as important.
We're still hiring a Frontend Engineer and Backend Engineer to join a fully distributed team of 7 based in France, Germany, Portugal and Nigeria. We're looking to hire great people who are based in EU or equivalent timezones - Join us.
And that’s all we have for October’s edition. Thank’s for reading through. For even more detailed announcements, be sure to check out the release notes and join us on Discord to stay up to date on our more frequent updates!
