Tailwarden 2022 Recap: Our First Team Offsite!

At Tailwarden, we work in fully distributed teams which means that we rarely meet in person. While we clearly see the advantages of being a remote company, we also know what value in-person meetings can bring to our team. It's also a great excuse to get some group photos.

We recently had the opportunity to bring our team together for our first annual team offsite in Marrakech, Morocco. So we thought we’d give you a little preview of what we got up to.

We came, we ate, we conquered

We feasted on a variety of delicious dishes, including tagine, couscous, and pastilla, while being entertained by a group of Berber musicians. It was a great way to start off the trip and get to know each other in a relaxed setting.

Tasting the flavors of Morocco with our team - from traditional tagines to delicious pastries. A culinary journey to remember!

Monuments and old city

We visited the most important landmarks and monuments of the city, including the Bahia Palace, the Koutoubia Mosque, and the Saadian Tombs. It was an eye-opening experience to see the rich history of the city and the impressive architecture of the monuments.

Medersa Ben Youssef, largest Islamic college in Morocco.

Majestic waterfalls

We had a day trip to the Ouzoud Waterfall. Located just a few hours outside of the city, the drive there was beautiful, passing through picturesque landscapes of olive groves and Berber villages. When we arrived at the waterfall, we couldn't help but be awed by the stunning view of the cascading water falling 110 meters into the gorge below. We hiked down to the base of the falls, where we enjoyed Berber tagine.

The Ouzoud Waterfalls, a natural wonder that left our team speechless.

Wardens of the cloud

The hot air balloon ride was an extraordinary experience, as we soared high over the Agafay Desert and the Atlas Mountains, with panoramic views of the rugged landscapes and snow-capped peaks.

Rising above the clouds, the hot air balloon soars to new heights of adventure and discovery.

World Cup Semi-Finals

One of the standout moments of our 2022 offsite was the time we spent together in the evenings watching the World Cup semi-final match between Morocco and France. The Jemaa el-Fnaa square was filled with energy and excitement as locals and tourists alike gathered to cheer on their teams, dressed in their national colors. Unfortunately, due to heavy rain, we ended up watching the game at our Riad, but it made for a memorable and enjoyable bonding experience as we all cheered and shared the excitement of the match together.

Discovering the beauty and serenity of the Majorelle Garden.

At the end, the whole team have become closer, happier and more equipped for whatever 2023 might throw at us than ever before. We miss it already, but onwards to our trip next year!
